It's somewhere in between. And it's still too soon to tell where it will fall. Social media fatigue is inevitable (it's already happening) and a backlash against it is possible. I've been on LinkedIn for three years and still don't know what it's good for (except letting your boss know you're looking for a job). The future never turns out exactly like the "visionaries" say it will. As usual the answer isn’t “it’s a fad” OR “the biggest thing since yada, yada, yada.” It’s somewhere in between.
